The community developers for each of the counties assist the Commission by implementing this program in the designated communities. They supervise in-home aide workers and coordinate older adult activities as approved by the N.C. Division of Aging and Adult Services.

Low Energy Assistance Program

The Low Energy Assistance Program provides energy assistance to low-income families. There are three components of this program and individuals must be certified to receive this assistance by their local Department of Social Services:

• Low energy assistance is targeted to food stamp households and those who meet the low energy assistance guidelines;
• Crisis Intervention Program is for emergency assistance to those individuals who have experience a crisis whereby they are not able pay for home energy; and
• Weatherization is for low income older adults whose home has repair needs. The community outreach workers are the appropriate contact for these programs in the following counties.
