In 2012 through January 31, 2012

  • More than 28 North Carolinians gave the gift of life through organ donation

As of December 31, 2011

  • Over 4,169,282 North Carolinians have an organ donor designation heart on their drivers’ license or ID card.
  • More than 274 North Carolinians gave the gift of life through deceased organ donation (between January 31, 2011 through December 31, 2011).

In 2012 through January 31, 2012

  • 59 North Carolinians received a life saving transplant.
  • Sadly, 22 North Carolinians on the transplant waiting list died due to the shortage of donated organs.

In all of 2011

  • 404 North Carolinians gave the gift of life through organ donation.
  • 1042 North Carolinians received a life saving transplant.
  • Sadly, 215 North Carolinians on the transplant waiting list died due to the shortage of donated organs.
