STATE BUDGET CUTS FORCE CLOSURE OF
N.C. COUNCIL FOR WOMEN’S NORTHEAST REGION OFFICE
RALEIGH – The budget passed by the N.C. General Assembly includes closure of a Region Office at the N.C. Council for Women. As a result, the Department of Administration and the Council are making the necessary preparations to reduce staff and shut down the Northeast Region office, located in Greenville, effective June 30.
“The Council for Women remains committed to serving women and families affected by this difficult decision,” said Executive Director Jill Dinwiddie. “Grants managed by the Northeast Region office will be redistributed to ensure that essential programs and services remain available to those in need.”
Grants managed will be redistributed by county as follows:

The Council for Women’s mission is to serve and advocate for North Carolina women and families by providing information, and directing resources to programs serving victims of domestic violence or sexual assault, or are displaced homemakers in transition.
