The Communications Office oversees and directs internal and external communications, media relations, issue/crisis management, events, publications and customer service for the Department of Administration.
The Communications Office also provides graphic design and web services to divisions. Activities include the preparation and execution of information programs, publications and events related to the department's key objectives.
Jill Warren Lucas was appointed as Director of Public Information by former Secretary Britt Cobb in February 2006. She formerly served as Deputy Press Secretary in the Governor's Press Office and Public Information Officer for the Governor's Highway Safety Program. Prior to joining N.C. state government, she worked as a reporter at the Sanford Herald, where she received awards from the N.C. Press Association for news and feature writing, and as a staff writer at the Indianapolis Star, where she was a Pulliam Fellow. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
