Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities be lowered to half staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 in observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Wednesday will mark 81 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where more than 2,000 service members and civilians died on December 7, 1941.   Statement from Governor Roy Cooper

All U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities are to remain at half staff in honor of the innocent lives lost in the tragedy in East Raleigh's Hedingham neighborhood last week. Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff in honor of the victims killed yesterday in East Raleigh. Five people were killed and two others injured during a shooting Thursday evening near the Hedingham neighborhood.   Statement from Governor Roy Cooper "We mourn for the victims of this horrific and infuriating act of violence," said Governor Cooper. Governor Roy Cooper has ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day. In accordance with Public Law 107-51, flags are to be lowered annually in recognition of the many firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty. 
All U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities will remain at half-staff until sunset Sept. 19, 2022, in honor of Queen Elizabeth II who passed away on Thursday, Sept. 8. Governor Roy Cooper ordered all North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on August 20, 2022, in honor of state employee Anna Bradshaw who died last Friday while helping clean up debris and divert traffic after a storm in Wilson, North Carolina. She was an 11-year veteran with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.Funeral services for Bradshaw will be held on Saturday, August 20, in Wilson County.
Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff in honor of Wake County Sheriff's Office Deputy Ned Byrd who was killed in the line of duty overnight.
