U.S. and NC Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Sunrise to sunset December 7, 2025

Sunday will mark 84 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where more than 2,000 service members and civilians died on December 7, 1941.

Governor Josh Stein today ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Sunday will mark 84 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where more than 2,000 service members and civilians died on December 7, 1941. 

“Today we remember the valiant servicemembers whose sacrifices forever shaped the course of history,” said Governor Josh Stein. “As we reflect on the events that brought World War II to the United States, we recommit ourselves to safeguarding the freedoms for which our servicemembers fought and to ensuring their legacy endures for generations to come.”

Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are also encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the duration of time indicated.
