Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff beginning Saturday, December 12, 2020 until sunset on Monday, December 14, 2020 in honor of Mount Holly Officer Tyler Avery Herndon who passed away in the line of duty early Friday morning. Officer Herndon served on the Mount Holly Police Department, located in Gaston County North Carolina, for less than two years. Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen today announced that North Carolina will begin a Modified Stay at Home Order after a rapid increase in North Carolina’s key COVID-19 trends. The Order requires people to stay at home between 10 pm and 5 am and takes effect Friday, December 11 and will be in place until at least January 8, 2021. 

Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities be lowered to half staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, December 7, 2020 in observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Monday will mark 79 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where more than 2,000 service members and civilians died on December 7, 1941. As a show of respect, individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the duration of time indicated.

Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff beginning today, December 2, 2020 until sunset on Thursday, December 3, 2020 in honor of Nash County Deputy Jared Allison who passed away on Tuesday from injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident on November 26 while on duty. 

The Andrea Harris Social, Economic, Environmental, and Health Equity Task Force today released its first biannual report outlining policy recommendations to address disparities in communities of color disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The policy recommendations delivered to Governor Roy Cooper focus on the Task Force’s five core areas including access to healthcare, economic opportunity and business development, educational opportunity, environmental justice and inclusion, and patient engagement. 

Governor Roy Cooper today issued additional COVID-19 safety measures to tighten mask requirements and enforcement as cases continue to rise rapidly in North Carolina and across the country. Executive Order No. 180 goes into effect on Wednesday, November 25 and runs through Friday, December 11.  "I have a stark warning for North Carolinians today: We are in danger," Governor Cooper said. "This is a pivotal moment in our fight against the coronavirus. Our actions now will determine the fate of many."

Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff beginning today, November 16, 2020 until sunset on Friday, November 20, 2020 in honor of North Carolina native, US Army Chief Warrant Officer 3, Dallas Gearld Garza, who passed away in a helicopter accident with four other Americans in Sinai, Egypt on Thursday. 

Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff beginning today, November 12, 2020 until sunset on Monday, November 16, 2020 in honor of Fort Bragg soldier, Sgt. 1st Class Nikyisha T. Boyd, who passed away in a traffic incident on Monday. 

The NC Department of Administration’s Division of Purchase & Contract, the state’s central procurement authority, is among the list of finalists for the NC Tech Awards. The Division of Purchase & Contract (P&C) is nominated to receive a Use of Technology Award for its recent upgrade to the NC eProcurement System this summer. P&C is competing against four other North Carolina agencies within the Public Sector Project Category.
