Gov. Roy Cooper today ordered all North Carolina state flags to be lowered to half-staff on Friday, November 3rd, from sunrise to Monday, November 6th at sunset, in tribute to the Department of Public Safety employee, Geoffrey Howe. He passed on Thursday after suffering multiple injuries while working at Pasquotank Correctional Institution on Thursday, October 12th. Howe began his career at Pasquotank Correctional Institute just over a year ago, as a maintenance mechanic.
North Carolina residents attending a college, university, technical institute or community college have until Monday, January 15, 2018 to apply for paid state government internships available for summer 2018. Shannon began her career at Pasquotank Correctional Institute on Oct. 21, 2013 as a correctional officer.

Correctional Officer Justin Smith had worked as a correctional officer since 2012.
