The North Carolina Council for Women and Youth Involvement will host the Women’s Commissions of North Carolina Inaugural Luncheon tomorrow, March 30. Secretary of Administration Machelle Sanders will deliver opening remarks in recognition of Women’s History Month. What: Community and advocacy leaders and members of women’s commissions will meet for panel presentations and discussions on creating and sustaining women's commissions in North Carolina. The luncheon theme is “Our History is our Strength" in celebration of Women's History Month.

Several State Government Complex buildings were impacted by the five-alarm fire in downtown Raleigh on the night of March 16. Affected buildings are expected to resume normal operations on Monday, March 20. The Department of Administration’s Facility Management Division today conducted walk-through inspections of each state government building in the vicinity of the fire to ensure safety.

As we continue to honor the life of NC native George Floyd, Governor Roy Cooper is extending the half-staff notice. Beginning today, June 6, 2020, Governor Cooper ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in honor of Private First Class Ethan M. Moores who passed away on Wednesday, May 27, in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Stationed at US Marine Corps Camp Lejeune, PFC Moores was born in Machias, Maine. Services for PFC Moores were held in Lubec, Maine, where he received full military honors.
