History of the Council
The Governor's Advisory Council on Latino Affairs was reestablished through Governor Stein's Executive Order 27 to advise the Governor on matters affecting the Latino population in North Carolina. The council will support state efforts to enhance cooperation and understanding, promote opportunities, identify challenges, and recommend solutions.
About the Council
The Advisory Council consist of 30 members appointed by the Governor. The Council has the following functions and duties:
- Advise the Governor on matters affecting the Latino population in North Carolina.
- Support state efforts to enhance cooperation and understanding, promote opportunities, identify challenges, and recommend solutions.
- Serve as a forum for the discussion of issues and opportunities concerning the Latino community and support efforts aimed at improving cross-cultural relations and statewide engagement.
- Gather community input through public engagement efforts, such as listening sessions and outreach initiatives, to ensure that its recommendations reflect the needs and interests of Latino residents.
- Utilize relevant data and research to inform its priorities and assess the impact of state policies, programs, and services on the Latino population.
