Governor Roy Cooper has ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to remain lowered to half-staff until sunset on May 25, 2018 in honor of Surry County State Highway Patrol Trooper Samuel Newton Bullard who died in the line of duty on Monday.
  Governor Roy Cooper has joined President Donald Trump in ordering all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff today, May 21, 2018 until sunset on May 22, 2018, in honor of the victims  of the school shooting in Sante Fe, Texas.
Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered immediately to half-staff in tribute to Reverend and Coharie Indian Tribe Chief Wilbert Lee Ammons.  Chief Ammons died May 11, 2018; the Chief of the Coharie Indian Tribe and a WWII Army veteran. He served as pastor for over 30 years at Mt. Sinia Holiness Church in Waccamaw-Siouan Indian Community of "Buck Head" and was a long-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.      
  Please note that flags should remain at half-staff through sunset on Saturday, April 21 as funeral services for former First Lady Barbara Bush will take place on Saturday.
